Bowl - Birdseye Maple Spirit Bowl

Small in size but filled with character, this hand-turned birdseye maple bowl is part of our collection of “Spirit Bowls”—a name given to our small bowls by a friend, and one that seemed so fitting it stayed.

This particular Spirit Bowl is turned from birdseye maple, prized for the tiny swirling “eyes” and unusual figure that appear naturally throughout the wood. Here, those markings are scattered across the inside and exterior, accompanied by darker streaks and warm variations in the maple. Turning the bowl reveals something different from every angle.

A Spirit Bowl is just the right size to hold a few small treasures—a special stone, herbs, jewelry, coins, keepsakes, or other little things that have meaning. It is equally beautiful left empty, where the character of the wood can be fully appreciated.
