This smaller-sized bowl was created from kiln-dried Figured Walnut which has a beautiful array of hues in the wood grain. It has been sanded to a smooth and silky finish and finished with walnut oil which draws out the colors beautifully.
Are you asking yourself "what is figured walnut?" Well, we're happy to share - this particular Walnut has feathered and curly figuring which occurs when a tree trunk splits into branches (feathered-crotch figure that you see in the inside of the bowl) and from environmental factors such as growing conditions (such as on a bank of a creek the tree sways creating the curly pattern).
