This one-of-a-kind bowl was hand turned from beautiful Madrone wood, known for its warm coloring and subtle, distinctive grain. But what makes this bowl especially memorable are the three small wood-filled plugs on its side.
Are they simply part of the woodworker’s process—or do they have a story?
That part is up to you. Perhaps they mark an old repair, a bit of history from the tree’s former life, or something entirely more interesting. This is a bowl that invites questions, conversation, and a little creative storytelling. When someone asks about those three mysterious spots, you get to decide the story behind them.
The bowl also has a naturally occurring crack that has been carefully filled and stabilized. Rather than hiding the wood’s character, these features have been preserved as part of what makes this particular piece unique.
Finished with a food-safe finish, the bowl is suitable for serving dry foods or simply displaying as a distinctive piece of handcrafted wood art.
Because this bowl is made from natural wood, its grain, markings, filled areas, and other variations are not flaws—they are part of the individuality of the piece. There will never be another one exactly like it.
The bowl is real. The story behind those three little plugs? That’s yours to tell.
Approximate size: 5" x 3". Bowl handcrafted by Donette.
Natural voids, inclusions, irregular edges, and variations in color and grain are part of the unique character of burl wood and make each piece one of a kind.
