Handmade from solid hackberry wood, this one-of-a-kind kitchen spatula combines practical function with the rich character of naturally beautiful wood. The broad paddle-style blade is well suited for stirring, sautéing, scraping, and serving, while the long, substantial handle provides comfortable reach and balance when cooking at the stove.

This spatula began as a solid piece of hackberry that was cut to shape on a bandsaw, then individually carved, shaped, and sanded by hand. It retains a slightly rustic, primitive character, allowing the marks of the handmade process and the natural variations of the wood to remain part of the finished piece.

What makes this spatula especially striking is its Odie’s Dark Wax finish. The darker finish settles beautifully into hackberry’s pronounced grain, adding depth and contrast and bringing out patterns in the wood that might otherwise go unnoticed. The result is a warm, earthy appearance with wonderfully rich grain running from the handle through the broad paddle. A hardworking kitchen utensil made to be used—with grain beautiful enough to put on display.
