Spatula-Hackberry Mini

Small in size but full of character, this hand-carved hackberry spatula is a versatile addition to the everyday kitchen. Its smaller profile makes it especially comfortable for stirring, sautéing, scraping, turning smaller portions, and working with smaller pans. The gently angled paddle gives it a simple, traditional shape, while the tapered handle feels natural in the hand.

The spatula began as a solid piece of hackberry, cut to shape on a bandsaw and then individually carved, shaped, and sanded by hand. The handcrafted process gives it a slightly rustic, primitive quality rather than the perfectly uniform appearance of a factory-made utensil.

It is finished with Odie’s Dark Wax, which deepens the natural color of the hackberry and brings greater contrast and dimension to its distinctive grain. The darker finish particularly highlights the long grain lines running the entire length of this piece. A smaller handmade utensil that's practical enough for everyday cooking and beautiful enough to keep within reach.
