Special Order-Grandma's Pizza Peel

There's a story behind the Whimsical Woodworking pizza peel. We were asked by a friend to re-create her grandmother's bread board. We had the original board on loan so we could match the measurements as closely as possible. While we think the original bread board was handcrafted from very old pine, we chose Hickory for its durability and strength. After some discussion on how to taper the end of the board to match the look of Grandma's board, "Grandma's Pizza Peel" was born in the woodworking shop. Our friend now has the first handcrafted modern Grandma's pizza peel and gave her blessing to share the design in our shop.

Grandma's Pizza Peel measures 10" x 22". The board thickness is 1/2" but tapers at the lower 3-4" edge of the board (so you can slide it under a pizza or loaf of bread and scoop it out of the oven).

The pizza peels are individually drawn, cut, hand-planed, and sanded. The original Grandma's Pizza Peel is not perfectly symmetrical and staying true to the century-old handmade nature of the board, ours isn't perfect either.

Grandma's Pizza Peel can be custom-ordered and will be made in Hickory. Please note that the Hickory will vary in grain from the boards photographed (no two pieces of wood are alike).  After purchasing the special order pizza peel, please email us at the Contact page and we'll reach out to discuss your design.

The base (or starting) price is $65 and may vary if the board is branded with a name or logo.  Please allow 4-6 weeks for a special order pizza peel.
